The New Standards
Thursday, February 05, 2009

Members of The New Standards led past lives in groups like the Suburbs, Semisonic, and Billygoat. On their latest album, "Rock and Roll," the trio's rock chops fuel unplugged and jazzy covers of songs by Elvis Costello, Britney Spears and the Clash. They join us to perform live.

What great guests!
On the theme of today's show. Chan's old band the Suburbs was my first real rock show, and John's band Trip Shakespeare was my first live rock band obsession. I've still seen them more than any other, 15 years on.
Cheers!
That was totally random and fun funky!
i really don't get "the new standards." seems like a really bad cover band. doesn't sound at all like jazz, just bad soft rock or something. i don't know maybe i missed something...
