Later: genre-bending quintet Imani Winds celebrates the 75th birthday of jazz great Wayne Shorter with a live performance.
The Ghost of Nashville Past
Singer-songwriter Taylor Swift carries the hopes and dreams of country music on her 18-year-old shoulders. But as Nashville retools for a digital age and a new breed of crossover stars, country roots could be left behind. Deborah Evans Price of Billboard magazine and Jon Caramanica of the New York Times join us for a look at how country's rising stars are balancing commercial appeal with time-honored traditions.
Imani Winds
Imani Winds are expanding the centuries-old repertoire for wind quintet in unusual, genre-bending directions. Comprised of black American and Hispanic players, the group is collaborating with tenor saxophone great Wayne Shorter to celebrate his 75th birthday. The group joins us to share "Terra Incognito," Shorter's first piece of classical chamber music.
