THANK YOU for this show. Dusty is the greatest popular singer to come out of Britian. Ask Annie about her versatility and about her fandom today. We are in a Dusty revival.
Ms. Defranco, I have always respected you as an artist, entrepreneur and performer. but even more as a true innovator. it pained me that so much of your ethos was co-opted by dreadful offerings from major labels. alanis morrisette should be paying you royalties.
all the best!
What an amazing show! I love Dusty, it's wonderful to know more about her. And Ani DiFranco meant so much to me growing up in Syracuse--she made me feel understood and hopeful and ultimately joyful even when things got difficult. Whenever I put on her music I felt like, if she could make it, dammit, so could I! A lot of ladies in my generation owe her a huge THANK YOU.
As a big fan of Ani DiFranco, the mom of an incredible girl, and a woman with a history of eating disorders, hearing Ani sing the song on the radio today that was "a present from her baby," was truly a gift to me!
Thanks so much for the Ani segment - the new record is bursting with such inspiring positive energy! I heard the Obama song live last week and it so completely captured the hope and joy resulting from the election- it brought me to tears all over again. I'm so glad I got the chance to hear it again on your podcast.
Talk about worshiping Obama. Yikes. Let the man get into office and do something first.
An Ani fan for years, this interview, and this new song (which I heard her sing live at Friday's performance) are both amazing. Thank you for having her on air, and putting this on a podcast!
It's not about worship, if that's what you think you didn't understand anything about that song.
This is about Hope and people finally joining their forces and minds together in pursuit of something positive, instead of war and destruction, which is sadly the only thing that's been "uniting" us as a people, for too long.
Obama might screw up, he won't be perfect, but he was able to make a lot of people HOPE again, and if that's not something already, if you think passing laws is more important, you don't know what you're talking about.
