    Happy Birthday Sheila! What a wonderful evening last night at Dizzy's. Thank you again for the artistry, love, and joy you share through your singing. Starting with hearing you sing "What Are You Doing For The Rest Of Your Life" at St. James Infirmary in the 1970's (I can still hear that in my head), your singing has been a source of delight and inspiration (hearing you makes me want to sing). How lucky am I for your friendship and to have you as a teacher.

    Much love on this wonderful occasion.

    Gary

    Dear Sheila;

    Though we've never met, your music has had a profound impact on my own singing. This birthday greeting is accompanied by the hope that we will meet soon, perhaps the next time I am in New York.

    Happy Birthday, Sheila!

    You're my heroine. I hope to be singing as wonderfully as you at 80. I've been using all the tips you gave me at the residency in Amherst and doing a couple beebop songs, tons of fun and my jazz friends are impressed.

    Happy Birthday Sheila!! I was in your Jazz Vocal workshop in 1977 and 78 at City College. I still use a lot of the things I learned in that class to this day. In fact your class was the first place I sang in public - I sang the "Look of Love" and "Mack the Knife." (Cheese -LOL) Thank you, thank you, thank you - I am eternally grateful for having taken your class. Once again, Happy Birthday and congratulations on your new live CD.

    Much Love,

    Frank Grimaldi

    How I wish I could have been at Dizzy's last night, but it's a bit of a commute from the left coast.
