Datarock Live
Monday, July 21, 2008
The Norwegian dance-rock duo Datarock is infused with '80s culture, from the red tracksuits they wear (partially unzipped) onstage to lyrics about BMX bikes and Olivia Newton John. Their Reagan-era flair is so intense, one wonders how the group might have fared as a true contemporary of Kraftwerk, Devo and the Talking Heads. They perform live in our studio.

who's working the board today?!? the sound jumps from quiet to loud to often during the whole show.
Datarock sound cool tho.
god, i'm so very sick of the 80's.
it kinda bugs me how anyone who wants to be hip only has to channel a robust knowledge of the 80's and there you go.
these guys have a great sound, together...the singer's got a nice, jonathan richman sound...so why the gimmick?
Did you grow up listening to 'Saft', also from Bergen and Popul Vuh? Long live Ragnarock!
Datarock is fantastic, and I'm disappointed I can't see them tonight. I love how they don't take themselves so damn seriously. What I hate the most in music/about musicians these days is pretension.
Nice Sigur Rós piece, too.
