Marc Copland Live

Tuesday, March 18, 2008

Marc Copland has had two lives as a jazz musician. For many years he was a sax player in Philly and New York, but he eventually dropped the instrument to study piano. He is now one of the most sought-after pianists and composers in jazz. He joins us to play live and to talk about his new album, Voices, with two heavy-weights: Bassist Gary Peacock and drummer Paul Motian.

In remembrance:
Anthony Minghella, the Oscar-winning director of "The English Patient," "The Talented Mr. Ripley" and "Cold Mountain" died today. In 2005, he directed his first opera, an English National Opera production of Madama Butterfly, which came to the Metropolitan Opera last season.
