Consolidation in Latin Music

Thursday, March 06, 2008

The entire record industry is in flux right now, and Latin music is no exception. Universal Music Group, the world's largest music company has agreed to buy Univision Music Group, a major producer of regional Mexican music. With sales down 15%, indie labels may represent the sector's future. We talk to Carolina Gonzales, contributor to the New York Daily News' Viva NY section, and Tomas Cookman, founder of indie label Nacional Records.

I was just searching about Bobby Abreu who is my favorite Yankee player and what a pleasant surprise to find out that he's ventured into the music industry giving those with talent the opportunity to showcase it through his label, what a blessing! I just heard "Mi Hemanos", by A Baez, no relation, but WOW very nice and what a talent the guitar playing was exceptional. Thank You for helping me to freely receive this event. I will look for his CD. God Bless.
