Punch Brothers

Tuesday, February 19, 2008

Punch Brothers is an ensemble led by mandolin virtuoso Chris Thile of the progressive bluegrass trio Nickel Creek. The quintet’s debut is "Punch," a semi-instrumental album that combines bluegrass with modern classical and jazz. Its centerpiece is "The Blind Leaving the Blind," a suite in four movements that sketches out the breakup of a marriage.

Hi friends, the band sounds great. I feel honored to be a part of the same musical generation as these guys.

Great set w/ Punch Brothers. I saw these guys live 4 times last year - they are amazing. Chris Thile was also amazing touring as a duo w/ Edgar Meyer. I think with this new CD we will all be saying we knew them before they were so famous.
