Monday, February 04, 2008

23-year-old indie-songwriter Thao Nguyen has been catching the notice of critics and fans with her smoky alto voice and eclectic songs that draw from rock, folk, country and even Dixieland jazz influences. She performs live from her second full-length album, "We Brave Bee Stings and All."

I think the music ideas are all there, but it sounds very derivative: equal parts Modest Mouse and Cat Power.

She's lovely. She was fantastic at the knitting factory, too.

Swimming pool's lyric is awsome. She is the next big thing in indie universe. Can't wait for your next good work Thao.

Thanks for the web that I was able to listen to this interview. I am healthily addicted to Thao music. IMHO, Thao is much better than Cat Power because her music does not sound so distressed while it still packs a punch. The interview is great, good job Soundcheck.
