When Herbie Met Joni
"River," the new album by pianist and composer Herbie Hancock, brings a jazz twist to the songs of Mitchell. It also features an a-list supporting cast including the folk singer-songwriter herself, as well as Norah Jones, Leonard Cohen and Tina Turner. Hancock joins us today. Also: The charmingly odd Nellie McKay is back with more jazzy cabaret pop on her album "Obligatory Villagers." She performs live in the studio.

Herbie Hancock's "River: The Joni Letters," is a jazz tribute to Joni Mitchell featuring vocal performances from Norah Jones, Corinne Bailey Rae, and Mitchell herself. He joins us today as we look into the apparent fascination these days with Mitchell's life and music.
Nellie McKay
Nellie McKay has come a long way since "Get Away from Me," her critically acclaimed 2004 album produced by Beatles sound engineer Geoff Emerick. Today she releases her third album, "Obligatory Villagers," which features the jazz veterans Phil Woods and David Liebman, and vocalist Bob Dorough, best known for his work with the "Schoolhouse Rock" cartoons. She performs live in the studio.
