    The Art of Concert Photography

We asked, and you submitted. Today, the winner of Soundcheck's month-long Summer Concert Photos Contest is revealed. And we visit with two veteran photographers: John Abbott, whose work includes portraits of jazz legends like Dizzy Gillespie and Abby Lincoln; and Henry Diltz, the rock photographer who was the official photographer for all the Woodstock festivals. Also on the show: Brazilian singer Bebel Gilberto shares her new album, "Momento."

Soundcheck's Concert Photo Contest

We asked you to take your best summer concert photo - and you did, showing us a wide variety of concert images from around the world. Today, we announce the winner as we're joined by our guest judge, John Abbott, the jazz photographer who has captured artists like Dizzy Gillespie, Abbey Lincoln, Elvin Jones, and others.

Also joining us is Henry Diltz, the veteran rock photographer whose work has graced hundreds of album covers and has been featured in books, magazines and newspapers; and Peter Blachley, the record industry veteran and the owner of the Morrison Hotel Gallery.

The winner of the contest receives five CD's hand-picked by host John Schaefer AND two tickets to see the musical "Hair" at the Delacourt Theater in Central Park on September 22.

And the winner is.... Elizabeth Weinberg!

Sound Off

Soundcheck

Throughout May, Soundcheck presents “Sound Off” a Friday series on the many aspects of noise in music and our lives. The series -- which coincides with “Better Hearing and Speech Month” -- looks at issues like New York’s noisiest neighborhoods, the latest research on iPods and hearing loss, and what happens when noise becomes a musical ingredient.
