Band Managers
Many of rock's greatest acts owe a part of their success to a band manager. Others just end up owing a fortune. We talk with Steve Overbury, author of Guns, Cash and Rock n Roll: The Managers, about the best (and most notorious) band managers in history. And, band manager Alex Kadvan, who works with New York-based groups like Antibalas, Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings, and the Budos Band, shares his experience working in today's music industry.

Maybe Tom Parker made Elvis a lot of money but he also screwed up the guy to such an extent that it actually gets me upset to think about it. As great and influential as Elvis was, his true potential would have been even better realized if not for that wastrel, Parker.
I heard Antibalas in Switzerland in 2005 and in NYC in 2001. It's great to have such fantastic, rather unknown band (at least in Switzerland) to visit the world. I can imagine ther's much work to be done behind the scenes. Interesting to listen to managers involved like Alex Kadvan.
Keep on rolling!
