How do you get teens to memorize new vocabulary words or mathematical equations as easily as hip-hop lyrics? You can start by using hip-hop in the classroom. Today, we debate its effectiveness with Marcella Runell, co-creator of The Hip-Hop Education Guidebook: Volume 1, and Dr. David E. Kirkland, assistant professor of English education at New York University.

    Why are you guys talking about Hip Hop on the show? What do you care? Hip Hop is going over the hill and it should. After 2 Pac, this particular music hasn't been that creative and rather redundant.

    Do you think talking about Hip Hop music representing the Black culture? I know it's not just about Hip Hop music but the whole music genre. Knock the music industry off the show. Pop music is dead and so is industry. Let it fall.

    Let's talk about the real social issues.
