Alessandra Belloni

Monday, March 26, 2007

Alessandra Belloni spent 20 years researching the dances of Southern Italy, participating in all-night rituals, going into possession for the Black Madonna. She joins us to talk about the book that came out of it, “Rhythm Is The Cure,” and will play live with Brazilian singer and composer Siba, leader of the band Mestre Ambrosio.

Alessandra & her troop have worked along side our troop at performances that we have given in NJ. Our troop is D'Italia and my 9 year old (at the time) son LOVED learning the Tarantella from her and learning how to play the tambourine. She is a terrific person and to keep this unique tradition going is wonderful. My children LOVE performing and they like it more when Alessandra and her troop come to perform with our shows.
