Cross That River
Monday, February 05, 2007
In honor of Black History Month, we look at the oft-overlooked history of African-American cowboys and country singers. We speak with Allan Harris about Cross That River, the song cycle he's written about a Southern slave who yearns for the freedom of the West before becoming a buffalo soldier. And Nashville journalist Robert Oermann takes us through the struggles blacks have faced in country music.
