    Reggae Nation

Reggae. It's no longer just about Jamaican politics and smoking pot in dorm rooms. We'll take the pulse of contemporary reggae, from the Hasidic Jewish reggae star Matisyahu to the latest in ska, dub, and other styles. Also: trumpeter and bandleader Wallace Roney takes up residence at the Village Vanguard this week. We'll talk with him about his fusing acoustic and electronic elements in traditional jazz. And, James Levine the Music and Artistic Director of the Metropolitan Opera is still recovering after taking a tumble as he left the stage at the end of a concert. Will he take the podium again? We have an update with New York Times arts reporter Daniel J. Wakin.

Reggae that Rocks

Matisyahu is an Hasidic Jew who has found true spiritual expression in reggae music. But is he the future of the music? We'll ask for your thoughts on the state of reggae.

Your "Democracy Song"

Soundcheck

As we march toward Election Day, Soundcheck wants you to identify a song that captures the spirit of democracy. It might be Woody Guthrie’s populist classic “This Land Is Your Land” or Sly and the Family Stone’s funky hit “Everyday People.” It might even be a current Top 40 hit with mass appeal. Put on your musical thinking cap, get creative, then post your song here.

Tin Pan Alley

I Am Azerrad ... No, I Am Azerrad!

Soundcheck
