    Case Logic

Singer-songwriter Neko Case made her name as a member of the Canadian pop group New Pornographers, and singing gritty solo alt-country songs. Today, we find out why she's been compared to singers from Patsy Cline to Aretha Franklin. Also: Rinde Eckart, the avant-garde author of the hit avant-garde musical "And God Created Great Whales," will see his new stage work "Horizon" presented at Montclair State University this weekend. The piece is inspired by the life of German-American theologian Reinhold Niebuhr. Eckert joins us with a preview. Finally, we speak with British artist Carey Young, who has joined forces with a team of legal experts to create a performance piece called "Consideration."

Sound Off

Soundcheck

Throughout May, Soundcheck presents “Sound Off” a Friday series on the many aspects of noise in music and our lives. The series -- which coincides with “Better Hearing and Speech Month” -- looks at issues like New York’s noisiest neighborhoods, the latest research on iPods and hearing loss, and what happens when noise becomes a musical ingredient.
