From Hippies to Hipsters

Thursday, October 13, 2005

Pop artist and songwriter Don McLean is best known for writing hit songs such as "Castles in the Air," "Vincent" and, of course, the relentlessly popular pop anthem "American Pie." McLean joins guest host Chris Bannon to perform selections from his new CD "Rearview Mirror," an anthology containing past hits as well as rare and previously unreleased recordings. Also joining us is writer and NPR technology commentator Paul Ford. His new novel is Gary Benchly, Rock Star, the chronicle of a wannabe rock musician in that hotbed of hipsters – Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
