    Lullabies of Broadway

    From "A Chorus Line" to "Sweet Smell of Success" Film and theater composer Marvin Hamlisch has created some of Broadway's most enduring scores. Today, Hamlisch performs hits from his 40-year career, and talks about his performance tomorrow evening at the Metropolitan Museum of Art with vocalist J. Mark McVey. Also on the show: In a controversial article published in August's edition of Opera News, composer and lyricist Michael John LaChiusa stated, "The American Musical is dead." Today, LaChiusa joins us to discuss why, and preview his own new musical, "See What I Wanna See," which has its New York premiere next week at the Public Theater.
