Rocking Your Roots

Friday, November 05, 2004

Tear up at the strains of Danny Boy? Secretly pine for the strumming of the mandolin? If you find yourself exploring your familial heritage through music, you may not be alone. Today on the show we talk about the music that accompanies our varied American roots, and we take your calls on how or whether music connects you to your roots. To help look into the question, we’re joined by the klezmer fusion jazz musician Andy Statman whose music has explored the multiple origins of klezmer music, and by Robert Browning, who has championed world music in New York for over twenty years.
