Having a world-famous parent in classical music can be a double-edged sword. They can help to open certain doors but the public's expectation of your talent is far greater than that of any unknown performer. The 26-year-old cellist Adrian Brendel knows this more than anyone, as he's currently touring with his father Alfred, one of today's most revered classical pianists. Alfred and Adrian Brendel join us today in the studio to shed some light on their partnership. We're also joined by writer and guitarist Banning Eyre, whose seven months living among Malian musicians resulted in the book In Griot Time. He's also known as a mainstay of the public radio series "Afropop Worldwide," and today he gives us the lowdown on African music around New York this spring.
