WNYC Young People's Concert Chorus in Spain 2003Generation Next
The WNYC Young People's Radio Chorus under the baton of Francisco Nunez makes a return visit to the Soundcheck studio to show again why the children’s chorus is inspiring works from some of today’s finest living composers. The Chorus’s live performance comes in advance of its fourth annual Transient Glory concert this Sunday that features a cross-cultural mix of composers including Tod Machover, Bright Sheng, and Judith Weir. Speaking of cultural blends, Asian culture has influenced everything from American food to fashion to film, but it has also had an impact on contemporary music. Violinist Cho-Liang Lin stops by to preview a pair of concerts that he is curating at the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center next month that will juxtapose music by composers from China, Japan and Azerbaijan with Western composers like Glass, Ravel and Partch.
