    Movers and Shakers

British vocal group the Hilliard Ensemble, gave the staid early-music world a jolt a couple years ago with their ECM recording Morimur, which involved the secret inner life of Bach's D-minor Partita for Violin and instantly hit the classical top-ten charts. They're back, this time with 14th century motets by medieval troubadour Guillaume de Machaut, and they join us today to share the results. Also, we visit with up-and-coming conductor Miguel Harth-Bedoya, who is youthful, handsome, and charismatic—three qualities needed to appeal to the younger audiences that many orchestras are seeking to attract these days. Oh, and he’s a first-rate musician too. Finally, WNYC's Sara Fishko sheds some light on the history of conducting as viewed through a new film series at Lincoln Center.
