    American Pie

    Three musical chameleons—bassist and composer Edgar Meyer, bluegrass fiddling legend Sam Bush and dobro master Jerry Douglas (O Brother, Where Art Thou? Soundtrack—bring their free-spirited bluegrass-meets-classical hybrid to the WNYC studio today. The performance and conversation comes in advance of an upcoming appearance with the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra. Also on the show, Nathan Salsburg, production coordinator of the Lomax Archives. The legendary folklorist Alan Lomax has been in the news since the Library of Congress acquired his vast archives this week. It also contains more than 5,000 hours of sound recordings, 400,000 feet of motion-picture film, 2,450 videotapes, 2,000 books and journals, hundreds of photographs and negatives. As we hear today, Lomax is also the subject of a retrospective film series at Symphony Space titled “"The Land Where The Blues Began."
