    Master of Puppets

New York composer/lyricist Adam Guettel is not only the grandson of Broadway legend Richard Rodgers and son of composer Mary Rodgers, but one of the rising stars of the musical theater world. His latest effort, "The Light in the Piazza," earned typically enthusiastic reviews when it premiered last spring in Seattle and has continued to garner praise during its current run at Chicago's Goodman Theatre. He joins us today to discuss the state of the musical and more. Also, New York Times music critic Anne Midgette previews a new puppet version of Monteverdi's "The Return of Ulysses" directed by William Kentridge and playing at Lincoln Center. The production, which uses life-size puppets and takes a South African perspective on the classic tale, is the latest in a series of opera productions that are using puppetry.
