    Saxophones and Sacrifice

Having one of the more interesting stories in contemporary jazz, Ravi Coltrane visits us on Soundcheck. Yes, he happens to be the son of John Coltrane, but he joins us with his quartet in the studio to show off his own powerful saxophone style. Exploring the themes of personal sacrifice and the meaning of revenge, The Orphan of Zhao delivers a contemporary take on a centuries old story. Music writer Ken Smith drops by to discuss The Lincoln Center Festival’s production of this black comedy of tragic proportions.
