    The Little Prince

    In the Soundcheck studio, we welcome Rachel Portman. Known for her incredibly lush movie scores, she’s creating her first opera. Her adaptation of “The Little Prince” is to debut as the Houston Grand Opera’s 27th world premiere this week. In addition, Chinese filmmaker Chen Kaige, who was dismissed by the Chinese government as being too romantic and a maverick, makes an appearance to discuss his newest film Together. Also, our weekly CD review is from music writer Anastasia Tsioulcas.
