    Audra McDonald

We’re pleased to welcome vocalist Audra McDonald, who for ten years has been called the top singer on Broadway. Between winning Tony Awards and putting out a new album of “Happy Songs,” Audra is leading a benefit for the Public Theater. Also, author, musician and cultural critic Greg Tate has published a new collection of essays entitled Everything But the Burden, an anthology that looks at how white America has co-opted black culture. Today, stops by the studio to talk about the new book and explain how much of the music, fashion and language that was once part of the African-American culture is now part of the white suburban sensibility.
