    Musical Respons(ibility)

Pianist and composer Vijay Iyer and poet/vocalist Mike Ladd have created a new cycle of songs called "In What Language." They join us in the studio for a live preview and discussion of how they blend music, poetry, politics and the interior monologues of travelers and workers at an international airport. Our Wednesday critic this week is Anne Midgette from the New York Times. She's recently been interested in works that are created by composers in response to something, whether it's private or political, and how that changes the perception of the piece, and how we listen to it. Anne also brings us a preview of a string quartet written for her by her husband, Wall Street Journal critic Greg Sandow.
