Pianist Imogen Cooper has graced the stages of the world’s most prestigious concert halls. Alice Tully Hall is next, and she’ll be in to talk about her Mostly Mozart concert program of works by Schubert, Mozart, and Mahler. Vocal quintet The Persuasions share some showbiz stories and live performance with us. Plus, a conversation with composer Elodie Lauten about her latest work, a musical portrait of Beat scribe Allen Ginsberg.

After numerous concerts abroad, playing with such orchestras as the London Philharmonic and Dresden Staatskapelle, pianist Imogen Cooper comes to the U.S. this season.

The a cappella vocal quintet The Persuasions have plenty of rags-to-riches success stories of “being discovered” at legendary New York jazz clubs. They also have children’s records and an album of Beatles tunes under their belts. At Lincoln Center Out of Doors this month, they pay tribute to Elvis.

Elodie Lauten’s projects range from a millennial commission by the Bozeman (Mont.) Symphony Society to a Proust-inspired sound installation with her architect husband, Carl Karas. Waking in New York, her most recent composition, features a libretto comprised of texts by Allen Ginsberg. The chamber opera will be presented this weekend at Staten Island’s Snug Harbor Festival.
