Cover Songs, from Disney to Dylan

Friday, October 14, 2005

Texan Michelle Shocked shares songs from her latest box set "Threesome," a trilogy of albums recorded over the period of a few months and released simultaneously. Each of the three albums is unique: "Got No Strings" features a Western Swing approach to many classic Disney film songs. "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" is described as "A rock album, full of guitar and grit," while "Mexican Standoff" showcases both her Latin and Texan musical influences. Also joining us are the Cowboy Junkies. They have always been the last word in laid-back country rock, but their latest album, "Early 21st-Century Blues," features an anti-war message and even a bit of hip-hop. They stop by to give a live performance.
