We knew we had a good guest in Sarah McLachlan today. A ubiquitous figure in the pop world in the 90s, creator of the all-female Lilith Fair tours, winner of many Grammys and seller of 40 million records, she knows how to write a song and deliver it on the radio.
We didn’t really know what we had with our other guests, the band Linfinity.
I invited them in because their debut album caught my ear. (It caught Sarah McLachlan’s ear too, so I gave her my copy as she left the studio. You’re welcome, Linfinity.) But a new band, untested in the often choppy waters of media and interviews? Who knew what we’d get.
We struck gold.
The “what does your band name mean” question often provokes disappointing, boring, or silly answers. But I had to ask, what does Linfinity mean? Frontman Dylan von Wagner explains in this clip.
Of course, this answer was a little longer than I was expecting, so we ran out of time and had to end the show while the band was playing its final song. “Southern Belles” is the leadoff track on Linfinity’s album, Martian’s Bloom, and since you didn’t get to hear much of it on the air, we’ve posted it at the top of the page.
Enjoy.
