Max Raabe (right) the singer and bandleader, joins us at the House of World Cultures in Berlin. Raabe is known for revitalizing the sounds of German cabaret and film music of the Weimar era. Clearly, his retro-flavored music strikes a chord in modern-day Germany: several of his albums have sold more than 100,000 copies and some of his tongue-and-cheek takes on modern pop hits, including "Oops! I did it again!" have brought cabaret-style music to new audiences.
Note: New York listeners can catch Max Raabe at Carnegie Hall on Nov. 2.
