Sometimes it seems like there are few cultural pathways connecting the young indie rock geniuses of Brooklyn and the borough’s hyper-creative jazz and soul scene. Then, there are bands like Superhuman Happiness. Led by Stuart Bogie, the saxophone wizard behind the ripping horns of Antibalas and the Sway Machinery, Superhuman Happiness finally brings us tasty, hazy indie-pop sprinkled with legitimately funky horn arrangements. “GMYL” employs ‘80s electronic drum beats, bouncy clarinets, spacey-vocals and tinkling guitar textures, all to great effect.
