Gig Alert: Natalia Lafourcade
“No Viniste”
Playing on SATURDAY at: Joe’s Pub
(425 Lafayette St., East Village,)
Get: Tickets | Directions

Natalia Lafourcade is, depending on who you ask, Mexico’s Bjork, Mexico’s Lykke Li, or Mexico’s Regina Spektor. Since her solo career began in 2003, the 26-year-old veteran of Julieta Venegas’ touring band has been steadily enchanting Spanish-language audiences with her infectious, heartbreaking art-pop. On “No Viniste,” she sings about a special someone who never showed up, supported by a dreamy backdrop of cheapo synths, tinkling glockenspiels, and ethereal vocal harmonies.
