With five albums and 11 active years of performing under on its belt, Cordero has been around a bit longer that most of the Spanish-language indie and alternative acts catching fire these days. But the band’s most recent release, De Donde Eres, is fresher sounding than ever, deftly navigating traditional Latin and rock elements. This track, “Ruleta Rusa” (“Russian Roulette”), has a funky, secret agent-worthy breakbeat that clashes beautifully with singer Ani Cordero’s soft Spanish lullaby chorus.
