Akiko Pavolka grew up in Tokyo playing bass and drums in underground rock bands. She later moved to the States to study jazz at Berklee. Those two influences - rock and jazz - are front and center in her music, sung in both English and Japanese.
Jazz harmonies and adventurous horn improvisations share sonic space with acoustic guitar strumming and pop song formats, resulting in an original, genre-less sound. This song, “Begin Again” comes from her third album of the same name.
