Electric guitarist Mary Halvorson's critically acclaimed record Dragon's Head isn't for the tame, which is no surprise to those familiar with the musician's modern creative leanings. Since moving to New York City in 2002, Halvorson has been a fixture on the contemporary improvised music scene, rubbing elbows with the likes of Taylor Ho Bynum and Curtis Hasselbring. On this track from the breakout Dragon's Head, Halvorson and her trio revel in a cryptic tune, with Halvorson displaying her none-too-shabby guitar skills.
