Justin Vernon, in his acceptance speech for Bon Iver's Alternate Album win, may not have quite bitten the hand that fed him, but did take a couple of nibbles.

Bryan Ferry could have done a better singing job than Paul M.

no don cornelius tribute,oh well, why am i not surprized. to paraphrase one loathsome jerk, grover norquist: since we are already shrinking the categories, why not just get it all over, and drown the supercilious grammy bastard, in an old rusty tub.

I tried to watch the Grammy's but everytime I turned it on there was some terribly pitchy singing and then Nicki Minaj basically having a tantrum. Wish I'd caught the Civil Wars or Adele, but it was too much to sit through some really substandard music.

I particularly appreciated the tribute to Steve Jobs among the memorials. He totally transformed the way we listen to music. I never felt I had access to popular music since I hated listening to commercial radio and I couldn't afford to buy whole cds of performers I didn't know at all. Now I have been able to explore all the genres and love many many new performers. Thank you, Steve!

1. The Civil war thing was amazing!!

2. I felt terrible for the Beach boys. Maroon 5 and that other mystery group were embarrassing.

3. Lady Gaga looked furious under that mesh thing. I guess her self-appointed "record" of the decade wasn't so hot.

4. Glenn Campbell was awesome, but scary cut-to Paul McCartney clapping 1 and 3 and singing along to who knows what.

I don't understand what Deadmau5 is, someone please understand how a guy with a mouse helmet who presses the play button becomes a sensation in concert.

Twenty-five years ago the Grammys seemed to have twice as many awards and a few, consistently lousy live performances from the so-called best in the music business. Last night showed great, eclectic performancess and, what?, 8 awards??? I loved Adele, Bruce and I'm givin' props up for Mark Foster as a tremendous fake Beach Boy!

I think the Grammy's were terrible .... It felt like there was a black veil over the room the entire night. What they should have done is moved Bruce (probably too political to do) to later in the show and done a cold open with Jennifer Hudson at the top and get the Whitney moment out of the way right away.

You could tell the whole thing threw the director and the whole show was "off"

Also, limiting the awards to nine was a huge mistake. I understand you don't want to go on and on with the awards but really ....

Lady Gaga's costume parade has apparently caught on. She looked so pathetic and insisted on holding that scepter the whole time. I guess it has a function?

Also Adele's acceptance speeches were refreshing, so humble.

I agree with Frank. I got the feeling Hudson's voice felt a little off was that she was doing her best not to lose it. She seemed right on the verge of tears and very heartfelt.

Is it just me, but did Chris Brown and Foo Fighters have to perform twice? I will give Paul McCartney a pass. Nikki Minaj's ostentatious, over the top performance shows that she's starting to believe her own hype.

I watched the whole telecast (something I rarely did) but purposefully changed the channel when Chris Brown came on. I think it completely lacked class and empathy towards Rihanna to have them both perform.

Also, what the heck is deadmau5? that freaked me the heck out.

I thought Bruce Springsteen, Nicky Minaj, Bruno Mars and Paul McCartney were the best parts of the show. I think Jennifer Hudson is a Diva in every sense of the word. Considering that she is a person who has had so much personal loss, the fact the she was the woman picked to do the tribute must of been really hard. And she pushed on through. She's amazing.

I'm surprised that SoundCheck hasn't dedicated this entire hour to The Grammy and Whitney.

@Demetri
I thought the same thing. Whitney sang everhthing effortlessly. It sounded like Jennifer Hudson was working really hard to sound as good as Whitney and it didn't work. She should have been herself.

RIP Whitney. I thought that as talented as Jennifer Hudson is, her at times wobbly performance last night showed how incredible Whitney was with her crystal clear voice and singular talent.

Am I crazy for thinking that the most interesting performance last night was Bruno Mars'?
