The Jayhawks in The Greene Space

Friday, September 30, 2011

Alt-country band The Jayhawks became a cornerstone of alternative country music in the 1990s, with albums like “Hollywood Town Hall” and “Tomorrow the Green Grass.” After spending much of the past decade on hiatus, the Minneapolis-based group has reunited with the band’s original songwriting and vocal duo, Gary Louris and Mark Olson. Recently the band stopped by The Greene Space to perform songs from their first album in eight years, "Mockingbird Time," as well as their old hits. Today, we give our Soundcheck listeners a chance to hear the set.

Check out an unedited version of our evening with The Jayhawks, live in The Greene Space. (Taped on September 19, 2011)

Saw these guys do the "Tomorrow the Green Grass" show earlier this year in NYC... consumate musicians, note-perfect and passionate. The music hadn't aged a day.

A fine band. They bring to mind somewhat The Kinks.
