How was creativity affected by 9/11? Today: As part of WNYC's ongoing coverage of the 10-year anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, we hear from musicians, artists, arts administrators and listeners about how 9/11 impacted their art. Plus: The Baseball Project pays tribute to America’s pastime live in our studio.
Creativity After 9/11
We talk with musicians, artists and arts administrators about the challenge of creating art in the wake of the September 11th attacks. Guests include Daniel Felsenfeld, one of the composers behind the upcoming Music After concert, and Nancy Schafer, executive director of the Tribeca Film Festival. And, we open the phones to find out how 9/11 changed your creative life.
In Studio: The Baseball Project
The indie-rock supergroup known as The Baseball Project specializes in tributes to America’s pastime. Slugger Reggie Jackson, the underdog Minnesota Twins and a notorious error by Bill Buckner all receive their due on the album, “Volume 2: High and Inside.” With the playoff race heating up, the group joins us to play live.
Bonus Track: The Baseball Project
When it comes to America's national pastime, the members of The Baseball Project are hardly fair weather fans. The super group are super fans -- and good sports too. They stuck around after we went off the air to record a third track. Take a listen to "Fair Weather Fans" from The Baseball Project in this Soundcheck web extra.
