In Studio: Karen Elson

Friday, September 10, 2010

Karen Elson is the redheaded English supermodel who’s married to Jack White of the White Stripes. She honed her musical chops with the downtown New York cabaret troupe Citizens Band, and her debut album, The Ghost Who Walks, mixes waltzes and country-ish rock sounds.

She plays live in the studio.

Melodious voice! Heard her voice on NPR and didn't know who she was, but loved her voice and looked her up. Discover now she is also a model and improbably beautiful.

Too beautiful to take seriously? Grow up. This is wonderful! What a talent.

It's just kind of painful, because if she were average-looking and married to an unknown I might take her music a little more seriously. It seems rather twee and hipster-English-y.

Also, isn't Jackson Smith married to Meg White? And the son of Patti Smith? God bless nepotism in the arts.
