Wrestling is a very intense/combat sport and they tend to listen to "combat" music before their matches while warming up. It's interesting to note that the military recruits at all of the big high school wrestling tournaments, especially the Marines. I find it amusing to attend the Union, NJ Region 3 tournament (State HS tournament qualifier) because it's very intense, and the wrestlers have to warm up to Frank Sinatra every year. So different from what the wrestlers listen to when it's their choice. Someone who runs that tournament is a big Sinatra fan!

I come from a family of surgeons and they tell me that all surgeons listen to hard rock at top volume throughout the surgery. Especially while doing lengthy and very challenging surgery.

i think the low opinion this gentleman has of heavy metal is very biased. personally i cant stand folk and country but wouldn't put it down. most heavy metal musicians are excellent players, unlike folk musicians. additionally there are many heavy metal bands that cover real world topics, just as valid as country or folk musicans

lili marlene? the horst wessel lied? How much of this music accompanies war crimes?
What does the enemy listen to? This is the rankest of American exceptionalism. Or take it further to its logical conclusion.

if fank sinatra's songs would be an obligatory music to be played on the combat zones, there would be no wars. americans would go to sleep and alquaida would surrender.

I was in high school in the mid 80s and spent much of my time as part of the CT and NYC hardcore scene. Many of the guys eventually joined the military. And this was just the kind of music I can imagine they would listen to to get them ready for that battle ahead. But the music we listened to then (and still do today) was pretty eclectic.
