Alondra de la Parra
Monday, May 10, 2010
Raised in Mexico City, Alondra de la Parra came to New York in her early 20s to study piano at the Manhattan School of Music, but she caught the conducting bug.
Today, she runs her own orchestra, the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Americas, and leads a busy guest conducting career. The 29-year-old maestra joins us to discuss her latest project involving neglected Mexican composers from the past 200 years – and about making her way in a famously male-dominated profession.
