She & Him

Wednesday, March 31, 2010

As the country-pop duo She & Him, actress Zooey Deschanel and musician Matt Ward debuted with an album that sold 176,000 copies -- a big hit in the indie world. The title Volume One suggested more was to come. Today, they return with Volume Two – and a live performance in the Soundcheck studio.

She & Him. It didn't even bother me that it was gramatically incorrect. It sounds nice.

Whenever I had a bad day, I just listen to She & Him and it just makes it all better.

Loved Volumes 1 and 2 and i'm hopeful for more. <3

The interview proved to be typical, but the music is the point. I'm mildly mind-boggled by the dramatic "anti-Deschanel" posts. Are that many people struggling with themselves that they must try to feel better by posting angry posts about a singer-song writer?

Twenty years from now, no one will remember She & Him, but Deschanel writes quality songs, and Ward puts the music together beautifully. I find the music enjoyable. I've also heard bands just as strong and stronger that don't appeal to my ears. Yet, I have no need to get angry about the existence of those bands. They bring joy to others, and that's a good thing, IMO.

Love She & Him... bought Vol I and Vol II, and they're a treat. People need to get over the grammar of the name. Who cares? It's the name of a musical duo, not the name of a treatise on the english language, and grammar is hardly instrumental to creative music (forgive the pun, please)!

Zooey is a mellow person, and she is an excellent musician and actress. M. Ward is talented in his own right. Why is it that all M. Ward fans are hating on Zooey? They are both awesome, just mellow out and enjoy.

Beautiful music, but they definitely aren't the most articulate duo...kinda painful to sit through the dialogue.

Lastly, come on, their name is totally ungrammatical.

They may produce great music together, and She may be a great actress, but, like, ummm, she can't communicate! This was the first time I, like, ummm had to turn the radio off!

You don't have to be completely into yourself to be great. I think Zooey is real and doesn't try to put on any fronts. What you see is what you get. I love She & Him and Zooey's mellow interview style.

Never heard them before but after hearing of them wanted to hear them.

Better singing than speaking, she is as inarticulate a guest as I have heard.

Nice music.

If "She and He" as well as "Him and Her" were taken, why not come up with something more original? ...oh right.

@ alex: saying it's a bad show just because you're not a fan of someone is pretty absurd... turn if off and listen to something else and get over it. personally, i've loved zooey for years (and loved 500 days), think her band is great and am thrilled that they're on today. thanks for being on the show zooey, love any chance to hear more about you and your projects. :)

She take on grammar is more alternative than her music in this band her shares with he.

I suppose correcting she would have been awkward for a gracious host. When the guest accidentally mistakes the fingerbowl for soup, the polite hostess will take a sip too. If you mix up your pronouns, us will forgive you and laugh with you...second person is so much simpler.

The guests on sound check are usually so humble, amiable and insightful but listening to Zooey is truly excruciating as she does not possess any of these respectable qualities. You are a guest Zooey, act like one!

Love Soundcheck! Regardless of whether the name is grammatically correct, I just can't get behind She and Him. Zooey Deschanel drives me crazy. Poor M who is her "object." I guess her celebrity promotes the group.

Very disappointed in the show today. She and him is ok, but is their anybody more obnoxious than Zooey Deschanel? Watching 500 days of summer was like living through 120 days of sodom.
