A stint in Paris left its mark on Kentucky-born songwriter Dawn Landes. The sound of French-pop greats Serge Gainsbourg and Françoise Hardy haunt her new album Sweet Heart Rodeo. But Landes' lyrics also draw on her grandmother's love life, a British seaside town and even Jodie Foster's role in "Taxi Driver." Today Landes plays live in our studio.

i thought everyone was supposed to be civil on this website. the crap in these comments never ceases to amaze. doesn't anyone mediate this stuff?
Thanks WNYC for always having my favorite bands perform! Can't wait to see Dawn on friday at the Mercury Lounge! My wife and I were introduced to her when she opened for Eef Barzelay on a stormy night at Maxwell's in Hoboken. The house was empty, she played solo, pre-recorded precussions, and we fell in love instantly. Thanks Dawn and WNYC!
Where is the John of 'New Sounds' past? The crap on this show these days never ceases to amaze.
having been born in louisville i can say there is more than enough punk and metal there. some of the best. if you didn't take the train for a year you were just scared. not hearing this crap. just ask ray rizzo about the music scene there. he knows all of it.
I'm confused-- am I'm supposed to buy a minivan or ride my bike?
