Omara Portuondo

Friday, February 19, 2010

Cuban singer Omara Portuondo is one of the veteran stars to come out of the Grammy-award winning album Buena Vista Social Club. And whereas some of her fellow musicians have passed away since that release 13 years ago, Omara is going strong and has just celebrated 60 years in music. She performs live in our studio.

Such a pleasure to hear from a former time now in the present. Omara is all heart and Roberto Fonseca is the finest accompanist I've heard in too long a time.
Thanks once again,
f.
