P-Star Rising
Tuesday, February 09, 2010
When she was nine years old, Priscilla Star Diaz became P-Star. At night, she rapped in lower Manhattan nightclubs. During the day, she napped in the one-room shelter in Harlem she shared with her father and sister while longing for her crack-addicted mother. Filmmaker Gabriel Noble followed her dreams and dramas for four years to make the documentary P-Star Rising. Noble and Priscilla join us to talk about the film.

I have a crush on P.Star and I hope that when I get a book or a movie done, I hope that we can get to know each other better and possibly have a relationship.
Just watched PStar rising. I try to get a copy for my God's daughter. She wants to act and I think she is good. I believe PStar Wii inspire her. I know she did me.
I lost my kids to their father because of addiction. But I recovered and today I am 16 years clean. I pray her mother finds her way back to sanity.

P-Star and all those that surround her, I want to thank you for the production of Truely great songs with positive messages fun and up beat. I want to thank you for preserving her innocents with tact and a taste of class straight from the top. I have taught my children no matter what your enviorment you still have a choice as to who you want to be and P, you choose early on and that is evident throughout the documentary the determination you had to excell above what life handed you. You truely are a star and a light unto the nations. Children need positive and my children love you especially my 10 year old, I showed her your music today and she went to school like feeling like she had a new friend, I believe that was hope she recieved. I will do all I can to see if these people will play you on our air ways in Kansas city your family deserves the best, Your dad, wow! I am a single mom and it is tough, Good Job Dad! You have done a great job. To thine own self be true! Keep going P, you will exceed them all, out of the mouths of babes! Thank you!
