The Wu-Tang Clan earned rap acclaim in the 1990s and spawned solo careers for Method Man, Ghostface Killah, Raekwon and other members. Today, the storied hip-hop collective's leader, The RZA, joins us to share The Tao of Wu, a new book that is part street memoir, part religious manifesto.

Kudos to Soundcheck for featuring RZA - he is a true force. To Ashton from Chelsea: You are my new hero!!
I am a 69-year-old retired music lover. Since retiring seven years ago, I have relied almost exclusively on WNYC for my news and information. I have never heard of RZA, Wu Tang or anything else in his musical world.
I am an amateur piano player but have had stints of plying in public. The music I play comes from the American Song Book and composers like Stevie Wonder and Ellington.
This comment is just to salute you and your show for the extraordinary variety of music you present to your listening audience. Even at my age, you have helped to broaden my musical horizons. Most recently by sending me scurrying to GOOGLE to find out more about this man called RZA and his world.
Speaking of Coffee and Cigarettes with RZA-Bill Murray...One of my all time greatest moments was working on a busy ass night as a hotel doorman and seeing the RZA pull up. I take care of his car, etc.
Lo and behold, who's waiting for him so that they can hang out? It's one of my other favorite people: Jim Jarmusch. Another Wu-banger.
RZA - How hard was it to go from making music to to acting in movies?
AND How much fun was it to work with Bill Murray in Coffee and Cigarettes?
Just wanted to say how awesome this station is! Earlier this week you interviewed Iggy Pop, today the Rza plays piano live!
I love it!
rza - you are a hero to so many ... keep the standards of hiphop high and the message deep.
What's the secret of the Wu-Tang's staying power? There were so many of them to begin with, it's so rare that they perform together, one has passed on (RIP ODB), and they're arguably bigger solo stars now than they ever were as a group. And yet, people's belief in the WTC as a going concern seems as strong as ever. How the heck do they do that?
RZA is the man.. Keep up the good work.
RZA and WuTang represent the true New York to the world. Afro Samurai is great.
Miss you ODB..
Why did Wu-Tang go for lo-fi productions. Like old school primitive and underproduced.
What does he think of the state of Hip Hop now?
Shaolin Stand up.
