Lenny Kravitz debuted 20 years ago with an album called Let Love Rule. Since then, he’s released monster rock hits ("Fly Away" and "Are You Gonna Go My Way," to name two), won the same Grammy four consecutive years, started a design company -- and spent time on a farm in Brazil. Before a five-night stand in his native New York, Kravitz joins Soundcheck to talk about his career, the state of guitar rock -- and his unflagging support of a "love revolution."

saw kravitz open for the stones' steel wheels tour in '89, when fewer people knew his work. he managed to blow quite a few people away there, even as many around us asked "who is this??". he worked the stage much harder than the stones, and deserves praise for keeping the flame lit for real rock without the artifice.
kiddn me?; i don't wonder why i want to be black and jewish and gay?; who knows; are you gonna go my way?; i rocked HARD to that track!; the ukranian, bahamian, sensation; and jewish?; i already knew that; but maybe you didn't; no shit all sensation aside; lenny kravitz is SENSATIONAL; ya kiddin me?; touch that link; and i heard all that lenny!
I am not discrediting his work as a musician or questioning his talent. I just find it a little implausable that the son of two famous people had it so hard. It sounds a little like "look at me. I had it so rough but I had the integrity to durn down these deals."
cj--what's the point of discrediting kravitz? he didn't describe himself as a "homeless guy", inasmuch as an artist who had to humble himself to do what he wanted/believed in?
have loved this album since its release, and still love and play it (surprised you didn't intro with something from "let love rule")! glad that someone is advocating for the empty promise of autotuning and other synthetic "musical" engineering!
as for a love revolution, right on, mr. kravitz!!
retro
Yes, you do. Clothing is called reto.
Can anyone back Kravitz up on this story? It sounds like one of those cases of someone starting to believe their own press. Homeless guy turns down 5 record deals.... I don't know.
